Several years ago, a thorny topic came up at work, and we had a sequence of difficult meetings to try to sort through options. It was hard to get everyone on the same page, especially with senior leaders on all sides of the issue. “I need you to be more forceful,” said my manager. “You need to express your opinions about this, or we might not get to the right decision.”
Such an effective image for helping people (like me) enact "baby steps" when it comes to stretching different character traits in different situations.

I am going to try this visualization for sure. Always thought consistency was the key but the idea of dials is making a lot of sense to me- especially as it dawned on me that this idea of dialing up does not need to mean that all the other dials are at 0.
